- How to Make an Easy Gumball Machine Cake
- By Machine
For my kids’ birthdays I always try to be creative, while producing a delicious cake. In another bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until frothy. Gradually add 1/2 cup of the sugar, beating until soft peaks form. On surface lightly dusted with confectioners' sugar, roll out fondant to 1/8-in. Cut a 1 1/4-in.-diam hole for the coin slot near top center of rectangle.
Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease bottoms only of one 8-inch or 9-inch round pan and one 8-inch square pan. There's a lot of fantastic going on here, and every time I was about to pick a favorite, another great one scrolled by!! Thank you for the fun share.

Create an attractive display by covering a piece of sturdy cardboard with wrapping paper, then plastic food wrap. Stretch and secure with tape. Or cover cardboard with foil or cooking parchment paper. Your cake its verry amazing....wow cool!!

In an extra-large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Gradually add 2 cups of the powdered sugar, beating well. Gradually beat in the 1/3 cup milk and the vanilla.

Such a fun idea to make them look like flip flops. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Generously butter and flour a 10 to 12-cup (2.5 to 3-litre) Bundt pan. I was shooting for a cake that would serve about 12, but you can easily make adjustments to the number of layers or size to serve more. Paste food color will produce more vividly colored frosting.
Or place the 13x9x2-inch cake in pan on a wire rack; cool thoroughly. Frost with desired frosting. This would be so cute for a candy-themed party – it’s simply a round cake pan and square cake pan hooked together to make a gumball machine. Meanwhile, grease and lightly flour two 9x1-1/2-inch or 8x1-1/2-inch round cake pans or grease one 13x9x2-inch baking pan; set pan aside.

Cut notch at center of bottom edge and round off bottom corners. With toothpick, score a border around edges, a circle under coin slot and swirls at each corner. Lightly brush edges of square with water; attach to back of rectangle behind coin slot. Shape a tsp of fondant into knob. And finally, I added a little ball of pink buttercream to the very top , and attached a bow to the cake with a little dot of buttercream. Then, I piped more gum balls with a tip 12 (I held the tip further away from the surface this time so that they would be puffier!).

On each ball, cut a small flat part off of one side, discard it, then put a little frosting on that newly cut flat part of the ball. Set the ball down onto one of the bases, then finish frosting it. For those who can’t have chocolate melts because of milk allergies, Skittles will work just fine for this project. Prepare and bake one recipe Yellow Cake as directed for 13x9-inch cake. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

In a medium bowl stir together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; set aside. Fill fish bowl with remaining gumballs. Cardboard circle to top of bowl with small amount of frosting; top with 6-in.
Cut square cake layer into an 8x6-inch rectangle by trimming away 2 inches from one side. Trim one of the short ends into a curve so it will fit next to the round cake layer. What better way to say happy birthday than giving my children the perfect cake for their special occasion. When I was old enough to have my own cake I knew it was going to be a special occasion.
We also have some more unique birthday cake ideas. If you are throwing a pirate party any time soon, you have to check out these pirate cupcakes! So easy and so dang cute. One of the best gumball machine cakes I have seen. I can't wait for the Little Guy to turn 5. Insert skewers straight down into top of cake all the way to the bottom, cutting them if necessary so that they are flush with top of cake.
An alternative would be to use real gumballs ;0) --I finished things off by outlining with a tip 3. A fun variation would be to use real gumballs or chocolate Sixlets candies . This would be fun for a bowling birthday party. Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
